When a new device will be added to my home automation system, it has to be Z-Wave. Finally I want to get rid of the KAKU and Visonic sensors which are controlled by RFXCOM.

The Visonic door and windows sensors are very reliable (with heartbear signal and battery low), but the KAKU devices (with 1-way communication and no further battery low warnings) aren’t.

To have a cleaner look, compared to for example the Visonic, the Sensative Z-Wave door/window sensor is quit a nice device. Features of this device are:

  • Almost invisible mounting, just 3mm thick.
  • Up to 10 year battery life – no more changing batteries (!)
  • Weatherproof (finally a door sensor that can be used on the gate)
  • Z-Wave Plus certified

Adding it in Homeseer was quite fast:
